Hillary Clinton wants to "take those profits..." Under what authority would she do so? In what way would the energy companies be compensated? Will she be equally willing to subsidize these companies during market downturns like we saw during the 1980s and 90s?
I recognize that it's easy to beat up on "Big Oil." When they are returning strong profits, everyone wants a piece of the pie and seems to think they are owed it. But when the market turns south, I rarely hear anyone offering to bail the oil companies out. Since they weathered the bad times and made the investments responsible for the current profits, why are they somehow less entitled to them? Isn't the notion that the government has a right to corporate profits inherently anti-capitalistic? What signal would that send to entrepreneurs and the markets?
Just keep on talking, Hillary. You're not going anywhere with this kind of agenda.
