The Great American Time-Waster

Meetings. Nothing will suck the time away from a professional employee like meetings. Nothing else ensures that important primary and day-to-day functions go unfinished. The nature of the meeting has nothing to do with it's ability for keeping it's victims from work.

A standing meeting, a hastily-called follow-up, an unexpected problem-solver...it doesn't matter. Nothing will more gloriously disrupt the flow of work and keep one from their appointed rounds than another meeting.

Jonah Goldberg is a strong proponent of the office time-waster. My suggestion, if he truly is as dedicated to the notion of time-wasting as he lets on, is simply this: Encourage more meetings. Productivity will plummet and untold man-hours will be frittered away!
