The House Race
In yesterday's House vote, John Boehner of Ohio was elected new Majority leader on the second ballot, 122-109. My simple, straight-forward, no frills opinion on the race was chronicled here.
My initial thoughts on this turn were frustration and disappointment. On the surface at least, it appears the GOP missed a golden opportunity to put the ghost of DeLay behind them in no uncertain terms. Instead they chose to compromise.
As I read additional material and analysis in the hours following the vote, that changed some but I'm still not sure what the House Republicans have accomplished here.
