Eating Crow
I spoke too soon last week. Even so, the Lakers had their shot. In Thursday's game 6, on a night when they played poorly and the Suns played very well, the Lakers took the best shot that the Suns had and stood poised to close out the series if not for the shot.
Tim Thomas!? Tim...Thomas. We traveled on Thursday night; when we left Burbank, the Suns were up 3 at halftime and by the time we hit the ground the Suns had won in Overtime. All because of the shot.
When I saw the video later in the evening it was deja vu. Suddenly it was 1986 and I was seeing Jim Petersen having the series of his life filling in off the bench for Houston's Twin Towers. Who? Exactly...
I said that night that the Lakers had lost their chance, that they would not travel to Phoenix and win a game 7. And sadly I was right. The only thing worse was watching as much as I saw in a room full of Suns fans. That was the bad news; the good news was that I didn't see much of it.
Under the heading of "Ownage"...Kobe owns that town. All day Saturday one of the local radio stations required callers to recite a variation of the following to claim their give-away tickets and promotional items: "Go Suns! Kobe is a sharp-elbowed rapist-thug-punk!"
