The Pitchers Gambit

That's what I called my keeper strategy this year. I'm officially declaring it a disaster.

My staff includes Randy Johnson, Tim Hudson and Jason Schmidt. As of this date, my team is led in wins by Derrick Turnbow, RP-Milwaukee Brewers, with 4.

Who? You know, Derrick Turnbow. The guy the Angels cut last year and who has never closed a game in his life before April 24, 2005.

As of this date there are only two teams with worse team-ERA and WHIP numbers. Yes, I said "worse."

And I was greeted with this news first thing this morning. Giants Ace Jason Schmidt is on the 15-day DL with a bum shoulder.

On the bright side, maybe my ERA and WHIP numbers will improve.

[sigh]
