Et tu, Tim?
I hate fantasy baseball. You know that. No need to recount the reasons.
My master-plan for securing a second straight league championship has turned to well, you know. How did this happen?
Simple. I built that team around pitching and my pitchers can't. Randy Johnson would be more aptly named Randy Jekyll or Randy Hyde depending on which start you want to discuss.
Jason Schmidt? Don't get me started...In his last two starts, he's gone a total of 9 innings, giving up 12 earned runs for an ERA of 12 and a WHIP near 2. In fact, he's been so bad you've got at least one guy wondering out loud about just how healthy he is: "He's pitching like a guy that is hurt, though I can't definitively say that," says another scout who was in attendance. "It's one thing to have a velocity drop. But why are your mechanics affected? Why can't you throw strikes? Unless you're afraid. And he doesn't seem like a guy who would be afraid."
For most of the season Tim Hudson has been the only one of my top-line guys who has pitched anywhere near expectations. Apparently Tim has been sitting too close to Randy and/or Jason on my bench...
His June stats: 0-2, 7.90 ERA, and a 2.06 WHIP. Go back a little farther and you see that in his last 8 starts he is 3-4, has an ERA near 6 but a slightly better WHIP of 1.92, which is still nothing to write home about. In that stretch, he's walked as many as 5 three different times.
This team can't be fixed at this point. Initially I chalked it up to a bad start, especially when I only had 6 Wins in April. But it continues to get worse and there's no real help out there to be had. I'm officially in DCM (Don't Care Mode).

That trade hasn't really worked out for either of us. The only healthy guys left are Matsui and Glaus and that's a wash. Of course Odalis is coming of the DL soon.
After making the trade for Garcia, I have surplus starters. I need offense...C and MI. Make me an offer.
Different league, but yeah you're right. Pretty much a wash.
Something to think about...hhmmm.
