Lacy for Senate 2006
14-Year incumbent Dianne Feinstein (D) of San Francisco is on the ballot in November. Her chief challenger for the Senate seat is Republican Dick Mountjoy.
For 30 years Mountjoy has served the State of California in one way or another. He now is involved in a race for the Senate seat long held in a vice-grip by the smarter-half of the Senate's Dynamic Duo.
Mountjoy seems like an amiable guy and certainly has had a distinguished career. But he is not going to win and the fact that he's been thrown out there against Feinstein and her virtual lock on this seat tells me the Republicans really aren't trying. They didn't find a good candidate and are just going through the motions. And since they're not going to try, neither will I.
So today, with much fanfare and anticipation, I announce to you that I as a lifetime Republican partisan will be casting my vote on November 7, 2006 in the California Senate race for my dog, Lacy. As the election draws closer, Lacy will make her positions known and give her endorsements for statewide offices and ballot initiatives, though if she follows dad's advice, she will cast 'No' votes across the board on the State's propositions.
