Insurgency update

From the Pentagon. I guess it depends on whether you think Pentagon releases are information or propaganda as to whether you put much stock in this update. Since I'm not a Everything-is-Vietnam-and-the-military-lies-all-the-time-about-everything kind of guy, I'll take it as actual information. With the best possible shine put on it, but information none the less.

So what does the Pentagon conclude as the state of things in Iraq as of this week? Some highlights:

  1. Estimated that 70% of insurgent attacks on Election Day (Jan 30th) were ineffective.
  2. 140,000/90 operational combat battalions of Iraqi Security Forces.
  3. 2,000 construction projects worth $5 Billion dollars, up from 200 and $1 Billion dollars in June of last year.

Just don't forget, we're losing!

Hat tip to Hugh Hewitt for the link.
