Obligatory Sports Post

The Barry Rules. I caught a radio report of this on the way home last night. I wanted to reach through the radio and slap Barry upside the head. Another reason to dislike him and consider him a pampered baby:

...the Giants asked the commissioner's office for permission to use a designated hitter during spring training home games to ease him into the exhibition season.

Because of course, Barry is the only guy nursing injuries at the start of Spring Training this year...a quick look at injury reports finds plenty of guys nursing day-to-day stuff. The only other guy asking--and receiving--a similar exception is Ken Griffey (I don't have the same ire for Griffey; his career has tanked with the Reds so I almost feel sorry for him, that and the fact that he isn't quite the same kind of jerk as Barry).

So MLB is willing to completely ignore league rules (DH is an AL-only rule) in allowing the biggest baby in baseball to "ease" his way back into shape. Unreal.
