Unmoved indeed
With Sim's post in mind, I bring you Paul in Phoenix. This military veteran most definitely appears unmoved by Tuesday's speech:
Regarding "A will to win" (Editorial, Wednesday):I am stunned that The Republic believes it is President Bush's "mission - and duty - to present a resolute determination to see a tough mission through."
Here's another take: It is the president's mission and duty to have a strategy for winning a war that has cost more than 1,700 American lives and appears to have no end in sight. The Republic seems to believe all a leader can do is cheerlead - which is fitting given that W. was a cheerleader as a young man.
I was never a cheerleader. As a young man I was a military officer, so I have a different view: Leaders have to lead by articulating a clear strategy for victory. In that vein, the president has failed again.
His central point is correct, as was Sim's; the Administration can't communicate it's way out of a paper bag.
